What?!?!
Well, its true that you can treat pimples. I learned this trick from good ol' mom. I have pretty clear skin (most of the time) but once in a while, a lovely little zit- or gigantic pimple, will greet me in the morning while brushing my teeth. With the toothbrush helplessly dangling from my lips, I squeeze the heck out of my visitor in a frantic rage. Then, after finding that I neglected to pick up any astringent or blemish cream, I reach for the toothpaste.
Toothpaste For Pimples:
Just a dab on the zit will do, and works best overnight unless you don't mind having a blue or green spot on your face throughout the day (like me). There is an interesting cooling sensation on the blemish after applying toothpaste, and it shrinks the pimple dramatically and reduces redness. Not to mention, the fresh mint smell isn't bad either.
So how does this work? Well the toothpaste acts almost like a face mask by drying out the pimple. And, in most cases the paste will contain a menthol or natural mint oil which will draw impurities from the skin. However, try not to leave the toothpaste on too long- especially if you have sensitive skin, because if skin gets too dry it can become irritated.
The next time you have a blemish, zit, pimple, whitehead, whatever you want to call it, take some advice from mom. Slap a little toothpaste on the zit while polishing the pearly whites.
